Memorial Day

Last year for Memorial Day we went down to Filmore with Doug's family. This year, he traded shifts with a guy at work without realizing that it was Memorial Day. I didn't feel like taking the kids down to Filmore without him so we didn't go this year. My mom and Jim invited us to have dinner at their cabin so the girls and I decided to go. Here is a couple of pictures of them in the car. They took them while I was getting gas. It was only a little over an hour drive so it wasn't too bad. We got up there right about lunch time so we all had sandwiches. Then my mom took us on ride in their golf cart and we saw this. They all got turns riding on the three wheelers. Ella and Erika LOVED it. Ella kept telling Jim FASTER FASTER!!! Ella also told my mom that she wanted to live with them so they wouldn't be lonely. I think she just wanted to ride the three wheeler all the time. I didn't get a picture of Lizzy on the three wheeler :(. But I did get a picture of her driving the golf cart. She FINALLY got to drive :). A few of us decided to take the golf cart out for a drive. It was Lizzy driving and me in the front. Emily, Kayden and Erika were riding in the back. A couple of minutes after we started driving it started to rain a little bit. I told Lizzy to drive a little bit faster so we wouldn't be soaking wet when we got back. It started to rain a little bit harder so Kayden climbed up front where it was covered. I told Lizzy to go faster. It started raining harder and then it started hailing really hard. I got in the back and stood up so I was sort of protecting Erika and Emily. Then Lizzy took a corner and the golf cart kind of slid off the road since the roads were getting kind of muddy. I instructed her how to get back on the road and she over corrected a little bit and slid some more. Meanwhile Erika decided to get up front. I asked Lizzy if she wanted me to drive the rest of the way back since by now it was really hard to see. She said yes, so I got up front and Emily and Lizzy were braving it in the back. We drove back as fast as we could, but needless to say we were all pretty wet by the time we got back. Of course, a couple of minutes after we got back it stopped raining. Here is a picture of what the hail looked like on the deck after we got back. Ella and Emily and Erika and I came across this when we went on a golf cart drive. We actually had to stop and let it cross the road and then it still stood there half in the road eating. The girls were scared so we waited to see if it would wander off, but it didn't so we started going and it scared it off into the trees. Here are some random pictures. And of course, every time I get the camera out Ella wants to take a self portrait. So here is another self portrait of Ella. Thanks Mom and Jim. We had a great time. The girls want to come up again, but this time they said they want to spend the night and they want to take their dad too.
